There is no reason to feel left out or uncatechized in the St. Lawrence Parish! From parish retreats to small group scripture study, there is usually something going on in Adult Education. Here is a sampling of what is offered:
Ash Wednesday Retreat • 4 day Lenten Retreat • RCIA classes • 4 weeks of Spring Classes • Between the Masses Study Series • 4 weeks of Fall Classes • Catholic Scripture Study Group • Men of St. Joseph • The Monday Evening Bible Study • Pub Theology • Catholics Coming Home • and more... One of the main projects of the Adult Faith Formation department is the RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This program was one of the many fruits of the Vatican II Council. Anyone wishing to learn more about our Catholic Faith with the intent of coming into full communion with The Church is welcome to attend. The classes usually begin in August and runs to the Easter Vigil, when most people come into the church. The purpose of the class is to present the fundamental tenets of our Faith in the hope that it begins the lifelong journey of those who seek the Truth. Catholicism is a lifestyle. Another interesting project is Pub Theology. Held in an irish pub, known as McSharry’s, we have a different person of faith speak about God in a place where people may not always think about talking about God. The food is great and the Guinness is cold. It’s always packed, so come early. The speaker starts at 6:30 pm on the first Wednesday night of the month. |
